MANIFEST EQUALITY
FAIR proudly participated as a community collaborator and sponsor for MANIFEST EQUALITY in early 2010. Bringing together dozens of renowned international and local artists of various mediums, original and loaned works were commissioned in the spirit of equal rights for the LGBT population.  The project celebrated these pieces collectively in a series of exhibits, events and parties in Los Angeles in March of 2010 that served as a call to action and raised visibility for grassroots marriage equality efforts.   MANIFEST EQUALITY was a touchstone event - a unique convergence of altruistic intention, artistic expression, community engagement and political momentum.  Proceeds from the sale of the works benefited a variety of LGBT grassroots equality organizations. FAIR was particularly proud to be the lead sponsor of an enormous outdoor mural located in the heart of Hollywood that helped bring attention to the issue and the gallery space itself.

SHEPARD FAIREY EQUALITY PROJECT

When FAIR commissioned “Defend Equality Love Unites” from infamous artist Shepard Fairey in November 2008, an idea was born that became a year-long endeavor by the grassroots organization.  Over many months, members of FAIR secured signatures and artistic customizations of original screen prints of the image from over 100 high-profile celebrities as tangible proof of their support for marriage equality. While the project is still technically considered ‘open’ for more participants, the undertaking culminated in a red carpet Fall 2009 launch party on the Sunset Strip that kicked off an online auction of over 80 prints.  While you can’t put a value on the amount of media the project secured by giving a platform to notable public figures, significant funds were raised through which FAIR will continue the struggle for marriage equality in California and beyond.
